We are proud to share a remarkable success story that highlights the strength, skill, and dedication of our multidisciplinary team at Mujahid Hospital, Faisalabad. A complex and high-risk pregnancy case was managed with exceptional care, culminating in the safe delivery of triplets and the stabilization of both mother and newborns — a charismatic achievement that reflects the growing capabilities of our Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) services.
The Patient’s Condition
The patient, Ms. Sannia Nawaz, presented with a range of significant pregnancy-related complications, including Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension (PIH), and Mitral Regurgitation, along with suspected Tricuspid Regurgitation and other cardiac valvular anomalies. These comorbid conditions placed her pregnancy in the high-risk category, requiring careful monitoring and a meticulously planned delivery approach.
Delivery and Immediate Postnatal Care
At 34 weeks of gestation, a decision was made to proceed with a Cesarean Section, which was skillfully performed by Dr. Samar Amin, a seasoned obstetrician at our facility. During the procedure, triplets were delivered weighing 1.5 kg, 1.6 kg, and 1.4 kg, respectively. Given their prematurity and low birth weight, all three neonates required immediate resuscitation in the operating theater.
Following initial stabilization, the newborns were admitted to the Neonatal Nursery Unit, where they are currently under the expert care of Assistant Professor Dr. Mayda Riaz Tahir. Now two days old, the triplets are showing signs of stability and continue to receive close medical supervision and neonatal support.
Postoperative Care and Maternal Stability
After delivery, Ms. Sannia Nawaz was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for post-operative observation and management due to her underlying cardiac conditions. Thanks to timely intervention and multidisciplinary coordination, she is now in stable condition and recovering well.
A True Multidisciplinary Achievement
This case is a shining example of effective collaboration between our Obstetrics, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Neonatology, and Critical Care units. The successful outcome would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our dedicated team, who worked tirelessly to manage this medically intricate case with compassion, precision, and professionalism.
We are immensely proud of our clinicians, nursing staff, and support teams who demonstrated the highest standards of care in one of the most challenging scenarios. This case reaffirms that Mujahid Hospital’s MNCH services are fully equipped and capable of handling complex, high-risk pregnancies, ensuring both maternal and neonatal safety.
We extend our best wishes to Ms. Sannia Nawaz and her family, and we pray for the continued health and development of the three newborns.
